At Swann Avenue Market and Deli, we are in a Mardi Gras frame of mind. From our new Monday Special, the NOLA Mama Mia to this week’s Winesday offerings, the jazz is playing in our heads and the flavors of New Orleans are in on our taste buds and in our hearts. Total disclosure, this week’s wines, the Scotto family Nola Grace offerings are not from New Orleans, but the name and the family story behind the wines was too good a fit to let pass by.
These wines are an homage to vintner Anthony Scotto’s grandmother, wife and daughter, Nola Grace. There are currently two Nola Grace offerings by the Scotto family, award winning dry rose and sauvignon blanc. Both have been named “Best Buys” by Wine Enthusiast and the 2018 vintages have received 88 and 87 points respectively. These wines celebrate strong women. The Rose has fresh flavors that include strawberry, melon and rose petals. The wine’s caption is “She was afraid of heights but was much more afraid of never flying.” The Sauvignon Blanc had a pleasing body and lingering finish with flavors of passion fruit, guava and a hint of minerality. This wine’s caption is “She wasn’t looking for a knight, she was looking for a sword.” We hope you will enjoy this week’s offerings. Laissez les bons temps rouler! Let the good times roll! Swann Avenue Market and Deli: We put the deli in delicious.
